Conductor

The conductor is Marie-Louise Wright (Mary).  Born in Graz in Austria, Marie-Louise Wright began violin studies with Brian Fish and subsequently with Zefferino Mendes, Tim Wachtel and Warwick Stengards. She learnt Conducting and Music Direction from Dr Peter Clinch, Robert Rosen, Marvin Rabin; Jerry Nowak, Dr Robert Culver, Dr leRoy Jones andd Johannes Fritsch, some of them at Conducting Workshops and Masterclasses in Australia. She regularly attends conducting workshops for particular works

  • conducts productions of Gilbert and Sullivan and Broadway Musicals in Eltham.  Past productions include Lehar's Merry Widow and Fiddler on the Roof 
  • has played for and arranged music for the Victorian Concert Orchestra
  • is a past tutor the Melbourne Youth Music - Saturday and Summer Schools and the Margaret Sutherland Strings for several years
  • is a busy and much sought after violin teacher, both privately and in local schools

Her favourite music includes Beethoven, especially Symphony No. 6 "Pastoral", and Classical ballet music of the Romantic era.
